Demystifying AI for Teachers is a short introductory session designed to provide a staring point for teachers who want to better understand AI and its implications for education. Rather than trying to cover everything, the session will introduce key ideas and signpost trusted resources and guidance for further exploration. 

Trellis is an AI scribe for additional support needs paperwork which is currently being used across 78 schools in seven Scottish councils.

It was developed and piloted in schools as part of the Scottish Government CivTech challenge in 2025.

During this session, Andy Bell, its CEO, will share what the team has learned in the process of building and piloting Trellis: where AI can help with a child’s plans and meeting minutes and where it does not. It will review the open questions around consent, teacher oversight and the quality of what gets written about a child.

The session is aimed at teachers and school leaders who are interested in the ways that AI used responsibly can support ASN teachers and pupils

Digital technology is part of everyday classroom life, but effective digital practice is about more than knowing how to use particular tools. Understanding when, why and how technology can add value to learning and teaching is an important part of developing classroom practice.

Practical Digital Tools for Teachers is a short introductory session designed for student and early-career teachers who want an insight into using digital technology purposefully in the classroom. The session will explore how digital approaches can support effective learning, teaching and assessment.

This session is part of the Digital Education and AI Hub Seminar Series. It will be led by Teacher Associates from the Centre for Teaching Excellence, bringing experience from both Primary and Secondary education.
